Carlo joined Septimus Jones & Lee in July 2013 from well-respected law firm GSM Lawyers in Collingwood. He has a broad range of experience in business and corporate law, commercial and property law, commercial and retail leasing, and licensing and gaming law.
Carlo is a graduate of Melbourne University Law School and has been engaged in legal practice as a Principal since 1971.
As a Notary Public, Carlo can offer advice on matters with International Law implications. His areas of expertise are Property Law (including real-estate developments and subdivisions, and commercial and retail leasing) as well as having extensive experience in Business and Commercial Law, and Corporations law and practice. Carlo also has extensive experience in Estate Planning, Wills and Testamentary matters and in the transfer of Alpine Resort (snowfields) properties and interests.
A former member of the Victorian Legislative Council (1996-2002), Carlo was also a member of the Parliamentary Law Reform Committee (1996-1999) and Shadow Minister for Small Business and Natural Resources, Energy and Ports between 2000 and 2002.
Carlo brings to the firm over 30 years’ experience in interpreting and implementing legislation as well as his Parliamentary experience in developing and drafting legislation and regulations.
Carlo is a member of the Law Institute of Victoria’s Commercial Law Section and Property Law Section and is a member of the Law institute’s Business Law Committee.
His contribution to the firm extends beyond his experience as a Practitioner of long standing, as Carlo has also contributed in a substantive manner for a number of years to the formulation and implementation of legislation in respect of Retail Leases, Liquor Licensing, Gaming and other areas affecting small and medium size business enterprises.
Carlo’s contribution to the Italian Community was recognised in 2005 with a presentation to him by the Italian Government of the honorific title of Cavaliere Ufficiale of the Republic of Italy.
